Stories from the Work: Brian and Gabriel

Tuesday, Jan 2, 2018

Gabriel wants to be a train conductor when he grows up – but first, he needs to overcome his fears. Only 10 years old, Gabriel is afraid all the time.

He is afraid of falling – from the slide at the park -- off his scooter -- from a bike. Like a lot of kids from unstable homes, Gabriel survived his birth home by avoiding risk. But to achieve his dreams, he would need to take a leap.

As his CASA, Brian helps Gabriel overcome some of his fears. With Brian’s steady help and guidance, Gabriel found the courage to learn to ride a bike because he knows Brian will catch him if he falls. We are so grateful for Brian's hard work and commitment to being there for Gabriel.
